Various sources are claiming that the flagship RX 7000 notebooks would have similar performance to a Radeon RX 6950 XT graphics card, which is currently the current flagship RX 6000.
AMD RX 7000 Laptops Have Performance Of RX 6950 XT
The RX 7000 series with RDNA 3 architecture is going to take a huge leap in performance. Sources Greymon55 and Kopite7kimi are concurring on this, stating that the flagship notebook GPU in the series is going to have the performance of the current flagship of the RX 6000 series, which is the RX 6950 XT. This would be quite an important jump, especially due to the adjusted TBP that laptop GPUs have.
First of all, Greymon55 claims that Radeon RX 7000 “RDNA 3” GPUs for laptops (represented by a laptop emoji) would offer performance on par with the Radeon RX 6950 XT.
Kopite7kimi ‘s second tweet suggests naming the RX 7900M as that flagship. As well as talking about the RX 6950 XT, it also means that its performance would be on par with a current RTX 3090.
The jump would be huge, considering that the current fastest model in AMD’s notebook segment is the RX 6850M XT, which is on par with a desktop RX 6700 XT.
The RX 7000 series is expected to launch before the end of this year 2022 for the desktop segment, with an expected presentation on November 3. However, it is not confirmed when the RDNA 3 graphics will arrive for the laptop segment.
Everything indicates that the official presentation would be made at CES 2023, where Nvidia would also announce its Ada Lovelace laptop GPUs. We will keep you informed.
