PortHole Privacy Policy

PortHole is a menu-bar utility for Mac. This policy covers what it does and doesn’t do with your data.

What PortHole does not do

• No account, no sign-in. PortHole doesn’t know who you are.
• No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry. Nothing about your usage is collected or transmitted anywhere.
• No data ever leaves your Mac, with one exception below.

The one exception: AirPlay on your local network

PortHole’s AirPlay button uses Apple’s built-in AirPlay system to find and connect to displays on your local network, which is why macOS may ask for local-network permission. Discovery and casting are handled entirely by macOS; PortHole doesn’t see, collect, or transmit anything about the devices found, and nothing goes beyond your own network.

What PortHole stores locally

Everything below stays in this Mac’s local preferences storage — never transmitted, never backed up to iCloud, never seen by us:

• Your saved display arrangement (if you use that feature) — which monitor goes where, identified by the monitor’s vendor/model/serial number, not by anything identifying you.
• Your preference settings, such as auto-fix-on-connect and launch-at-login.

Third-party access

PortHole reads information about your connected monitors — resolution, vendor, model, serial number — to detect and fix resolution mismatches. None of this involves a third party or leaves your Mac.

Purchases

PortHole is a one-time paid download on the Mac App Store. Apple processes the purchase entirely through its own systems — PortHole never sees your payment details. See Apple’s own privacy policy for how Apple handles that transaction.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change too. Material changes will be reflected in the app’s release notes.
