Trackpad Gestures
Every gesture below works the same on a Magic Trackpad or a MacBook’s built-in trackpad.
Tap to Click
1 fingerTap
Single tap anywhere on the trackpad clicks (enable in System Settings > Trackpad).
Windows: Left click
Secondary Click
2 fingersTap with two fingers
Two-finger tap opens the right-click / context menu.
Windows: Right click
Scroll
2 fingersSlide up/down/left/right
Two fingers scroll content. Natural scrolling is on by default (content moves with your fingers, opposite of Windows).
Windows: Mouse wheel / scrollbar drag
Zoom
2 fingersPinch open/closed
Pinch to zoom in Photos, Maps, Safari, and most apps.
Windows: Ctrl + scroll wheel
Smart Zoom
2 fingersDouble-tap
Double-tap with two fingers to zoom into a webpage section or photo.
Windows: Double-click to fit content
Swipe Between Pages
2 fingersSwipe left/right
Navigate back/forward in Safari and other apps.
Windows: Alt+Left / Alt+Right
Mission Control
3 fingersSwipe up
Shows all open windows and spaces at once.
Windows: Win+Tab (Task View)
App Exposé
3 fingersSwipe down
Shows all windows of the current app.
Windows: Alt+Tab (filtered to one app)
Switch Spaces / Full-Screen Apps
3 fingersSwipe left/right
Move between virtual desktops and full-screen apps.
Windows: Ctrl+Win+Left/Right
Show Desktop
4 fingersSpread fingers apart (pinch out)
Pushes windows to the edges, revealing the desktop. Works with 4 or 5 fingers.
Windows: Win+D
Open Launchpad
4 fingersPinch fingers together
Opens a grid view of all installed apps. Works with 4 or 5 fingers.
Windows: Start Menu
Drag and Drop (three-finger drag)
3 fingersDrag after enabling in Accessibility settings
Move windows/files without a separate click-hold; must be turned on manually.
Windows: Click-and-hold drag
